  Abstract: As an emerging new piezoelectric material, relaxor ferroelectric Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 (PMN-PT) single crystals are superseding traditional PZT ceramics in high-performance ultrasound transducers for medical imaging. In this talk, recent development of PMN-PT single crystal-based medical ultrasound transducers in our group will be reviewed. Different types of single crystal-based medical ultrasound transducers from radial array to annular array and phase arrays with frequencies from a few MHz up to 100 MHz have been developed. In particular, high-frequency phase array and two-dimensional array transducers have been developed recently. Benefited from PMN-PT’s extremely large piezoelectric coefficient and electromechanical coupling factor (fabricated by Shanghai Institute of Ceramics), the bandwidth and sensitivity of the PMN-PT single crystal-based transducers have gained significant improvement. New fabrication processes such as cutting and ICP etching in PMN-PT single crystal transducer fabrications will also be introduced 

    

  报告人简介: 

  戴吉岩,香港理工大学应用物理系教授,1988毕业于复旦大学物理系,后获清华大学硕士学位,中科院博士学位。曾在美国西北大学材料科学与工程系做博士后研究,后任新加坡特许半导体公司主任工程师。2001年开始至今任教于香港理工大学应用物理系。戴吉岩教授是功能氧化物薄膜材料结构研究与器件制备方面的国际知名学者,并在新型材料用于医学影像的高频、宽带超声换能器的研制方面有所建树,并获颁多项专利。曾发表SCI论文200余篇,论文被他引5000多次。出版专著一本《Ferroic Materials in Smart Systems-from fundamental to device application》。主持完成多项香港政府资助的科技公关项目,并主持国家973项目子课题。
